OFFICIAL 8 AM SNOW REPORT Monday, December 29
* Fernie: Where powder is the currency. * Angel dust from the skies.
We've taken a bit of a break from the falling snow but still have had 5cm in the last 24hrs. This is a good time to catch your breath before the next batch of snow in the forecast!

NOTICE: Due to the recent significant snowfalls, extensive avalanche control has been underway and is still in progress. Avalance closures are to be expected with additional lifts and terrain opening as conditions permit. Currently the lift and run status are as follows: Elk, Deer, Mighty Moose and Mini Moose, with expected opening of 9AM. Boom and Bear Chairs open at 9AM (with Bear and Tower 6 Road runs available). Timber Chair is expected to open at 10AM with Falling Star being the only run available. Further runs will open as avalanche conditions permit. The Haul Back is on standby until avalanche conditions permit opening.
The Fernie legend continues:
Snow conditions: Mid mountain and above: Some powder, fresh groomed powder and packed powder. High avalanche risk. At base: Variable conditions.
Runs: 70 runs are open (dependent on avalanche control and lifts running)
Lifts: Please see note above.
Lifts operate: 9 AM - 4 PM
Rail Park: Groomed
Run of the Day: Falling Star

NOTICE: Due to all the snow, avalanche control is vital - extensive avalanche closures are in effect. Timber Chair and Bear will have delayed openings this morning. Please obey all closures.

OFFICIAL 8 AM SNOW REPORT (updated) Saturday, December 27
* Happy Powder Day! * Snow laden runs beckon!
We're still getting snow. Lots of it!
21cm dumped on the "Fernie Alps" over the last 24 hours and it's still snowing. At base level, there's generous snow fall with good sized snow flakes. Visibility is looking good, and the 'refreshed' runs are waiting for you. Expect some "face shots" (that's powder in the face ...in a nice way). If you have them, use big skis, big boards, and big pants ...okay, the pants are optional ...I mean, you need to wear pants, but they don't need to be big.:o)
An AWESOME day to ski Fernie. A true early season treat!
Check it out:
Snow conditions: New powder, powder on groomed and fresh groomed powder (basically, powder is on the menu).
Runs: 41 groomed runs, but expect some temporary closures due to avalanche control

Lifts operate: 9 AM - 4 PM
Rail Park: Awesome, groomed

Despite all the new snow, early season conditions do exist (but have improved!) - please ride with caution.
