FERNIE ALPINE RESORT PRESENTS: 1st ANNUAL “FERNIVAL” SPRING EVENT - THE ROCKIES BEST SPRING PARTY!

Fernie Alpine Resort invites everyone to come to the 1st Annual "Fernival" spring event on the weekend of April 18-19th and featuring this year's sensational theme: "SN-O-BAMA"! Powered by VW and in collaboration with Downhill Riders, Kokanee, Coca Cola and Appleton Rum, this will be a celebration of snow and a tribute to a fantastic ski season. Fernie Alpine Resort goes wacky in spring which will make Fernival the best Spring Party in the Rockies! When the weather gets balmy, Fernie Alpine Resort will get SN-O-BAMA celebrating ‘Powder to the People’ with live music from "Spirit of the West" and “Current Swell”, DJ's and all kinds of wacky, innovative and fun activities including: snow volleyball, slush tug-of-war, scavenger hunt, VIP hot tub and featuring the “501” (yes, skiing in jeans) Challenge for all skiers and snowboarders to enjoy!

Fernival’s SN-O-BAMA is going to be such a big success that even the President of the United States was sent an invite! The invite was sent to President Obama via Facebook on Thursday February 19. Though the RSVP is yet to be returned, we plan to throw the best bash of the year and celebrate rejuvenation and a wonderful season at Fernie Alpine Resort. With “Spirit of the West” being our headline band, this is bound to be THE BEST SEASON ENDER PARTY!

The deepest Fernie turns

Well you have heard me talk about it and even post FAR's snow reports but now you need to "see it to believe it". On the weekend a few friends came down to Fernie and we went for a little snowmobile ride for a change of pace. Not but a couple KM's down the trail we found hours upon hours of bottomless snow. Here are just a few highlights...

Yes, that in fact is a 500lbs snowmobile with a rider, now you tell me how much snow you need to have that??

Now a 600lbs snowmobile pretending to be a sub.

This was a rare moment when we were able to catch a breath without choking on snow.

Gary carefully picking his line as he dare not stop or his sled would fall out of sight.

OK, this is just stupid deep snow.
